How do you install the Concat video editor on Windows?
- Download the setup .exe from the button above. It goes to the official Concat GitHub release.
- Open the file. If Windows shows “Windows protected your PC”, click More info and then Run anyway.
- Finish the installer and open Concat from the Start menu.
- Go to Settings and download the caption and voice models you plan to use.
Why does SmartScreen block the Concat video editor?
SmartScreen warns about any installer that is not code-signed and has few downloads on record. Concat builds are not signed yet. The developers explain why in CODE_SIGNING.md on GitHub. Choosing More info and then Run anyway is the expected step for now.
How do you check the download?
Run this in Command Prompt from your Downloads folder and compare the result with the matching line in SHA256SUMS.
certutil -hashfile Concat-0.2.7-windows-x86_64-setup.exe SHA256 The official hashes are in SHA256SUMS on the release page.
Where does Concat install on Windows?
The setup .exe installs for your user at %LOCALAPPDATA%\Programs\Concat. The .msi installs for everyone at C:\Program Files\Concat. Uninstall it like any other app from Settings, Apps.
Is there a known Windows issue in this version?
Yes. The 0.2.7 release notes say a blur or glow effect can still stall an export on Windows (GitHub issue #297). If an export stops moving, remove those effects or export without them and add them back after a fix ships.
What should you set up after installing?
Open Settings and download the models for the features you plan to use. Captions need a Whisper model, text to speech needs a voice model, and background removal fetches a small model the first time you use it. See auto captions and fixing text to speech for the details.
